Alex Ferguson confirms the news at Manchester United Player of the Year dinner
Paul Scholes has agreed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the 37-year-old midfielder, who came out of retirement in January, had agreed to play on.
"It's done, he's staying," said Ferguson. "Paul knew he'd made a mistake [retiring].
"When I spoke to him that time, I maybe spoke to him a bit early.
"But he knows now that if he plays 25 or 30 games next season they'll be of real quality.
"We know the player he is very well, because we've had him since he was kid. We know how to use him."
Scholes,
who retired from international football in 2004, is also open-minded about returning for England at Euro 2012 this summer.
