Kenny Dalglish has told Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez that he wants them to stay at Liverpool.
Kuyt and Rodriguez are considering their futures because they are not regular starters, but Dalglish says he does not want to lose anyone from his squad.
Despite Liverpool’s poor league campaign, the Reds boss has no plans to overhaul his squad because he feels he will need everyone next season.
“We don’t want anyone to go,” he said. “We’re going to have a lot of games next year – the Europa League, Carling Cup and Premier League all before Christmas.
“The better we do in the first two competitions, by the turn of the year we could have four competitions.
“So, the only one we’re losing is Fabio because his contract is up. We’re not interested in losing anyone else. Our intention is to add to what we have got.”
Kuyt will be heartened by Dalglish’s comments and he has rejected a move back to Feyenoord because he feels it would be a step down from Liverpool.
The Dutch striker, who has a clause in his contract allowing him to move abroad for £1million, said: “The fact I held talks with Feyenoord indicates I wanted to give it a serious chance. But in many ways the gap is too great at this moment in time.
“If I returned to Holland, I would have to take an 80 per cent cut in my Liverpool wages.
“If you are 35 or 36, you know your career is almost done. But I’m only 31 and in the prime of my life. I still have two or three years left at the top.”
Meanwhile, Alberto Aquilani hopes he could yet join AC Milan permanently after failing to make enough appearances during his loan spell to trigger a buy-up clause.
“The door is semi-open for me to stay here,” said the Italian midfielder.
