Real Madrid are ready to test Manchester City's resolve to keep David Silva with a £35million bid for the Spain star.
The 26-year-old had indicated he was ready to commit his future to the Blues by signing a new long-term deal.
The former Porto, Chelsea and Inter
Milan boss, desperate to become the first manager to win the Champions
League with three clubs, wants Silva to help Madrid claim a record 10th
European crown at Wembley next May.
A Madrid source told the Daily Mirror: 'Jose has convinced the club that Silva is the man they need to bring "the 10th".
'More importantly, he now believes that David has changed his mind and
decided he will not renew his contract at City. That is why the bid will
go in.'
The Real boss
will clear the decks for his move by offloading Brazilian Kaka, with the
Bernebeu bosses sanctioning a likely £25m return to AC Milan which will
mean Madrid making a staggering £30m loss on the one-time world's most
expensive player.
Silva joined City from Valencia for £24million in 2010 and has two years left on his current deal.
