Welbeck doubtful for Manchester United's title run-in & England's Euro 2012 warm-up games after sustaining ankle injury

Danny Welbeck is a doubt for Manchester United's
remaining two Premier League games of the season, as well as England's
Euro 2012 warm-up fixtures, after leaving the Etihad Stadium on Monday
evening using crutches and wearing a protective boot.
The 21-year-old was involved in a heavy
challenge with Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong during United's 1-0 defeat
to Manchester City, which has resulted in Roberto Mancini's men
leapfrogging the champions into top spot in the Premier League.
Early
reports indicate that Welbeck sustained an ankle injury following the
tackle from De Jong, but the extent of the forward's knock has not been
confirmed.
The injury could also be an early blow for
Roy Hodgson, who is expected to be appointed as England boss after
holding positive talks with the Football Association on Monday, as
Welbeck is expected to feature in Euro 2012 warm-up games against Norway
on May 26 and Belgium on June 2.
Welbeck, who has scored 12
goals this season, played 32 minutes of Manchester United's defeat
against title rivals City after failing to make the starting line-up.
