Skrtel lines up talks over Liverpool future

The Slovakian defender has just two years to run on his current contract and, with the Reds having another dismal season, the centre-back could leave for a better shot at trophies

Martin Skrtel has lined up talks with the Liverpool hierarchy as the defender considers his future, says his agent.
As Goal.com revealed last week, the Slovakian defender is expected to ask for a transfer away from the Anfield outfit following a dismal Premier League season in which the club finished out of the European places once more and below Everton for the first time in seven years.

And Karol Csonto, the player’s representative, has admitted that Liverpool’s future ambitions and expectations will have a big say over whether or not Skrtel remains at the club, with contract renewal discussions imminent.
“Some changes have been made at the club and the player wants to know what the aims and ambitions are," Csonto told The Independent.

“We want to discuss with Liverpool what they want and, of course, we will discuss the issue of Martin's new contract.
"You cannot say Liverpool won't play in the Champions League. It is a big club and because they haven't made it this year doesn't mean they would not next.
"There are expectations on both sides, though."
The 27-year-old was named the club’s Player of the Season on Monday after making 34 league appearances for the Reds this campaign.
