Swoop for France striker all hinges on whether Tottenham have Champions League football next season
Tottenham's bid for France striker Loic Remy all hinges on Bayern
Munich beating Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday.
Harry
Redknapp tried to sign the £20m-rated Remy in January but his club
Marseilles are now ready to deal after failing to qualify for European
football next season.
Remy's representatives had told Spurs they
wanted to wait to see if the North London club had qualified for the
Champions League before continuing with negotiations, meaning Spurs must
now hope Chelsea get beaten in the showpiece match on Saturday night.
If Chelsea lose, Harry Redknapp's side will take England's final
Champions League spot. If Chelsea win, they will go into next season's
competition as winners and Spurs will have to settle for the Europa
League.
But Remy is now a doubt for France's Euro 2012 squad after suffering a thigh injury.
Laurent
Blanc names the second half of his preliminary squad today (Tuesday)
after announcing the 12 foreign-based players last week.
Remy suffered the injury in Marseille's 3-0 win over Auxerre on Sunday.
"He should be out for three or four weeks," Marseille said on their website.
Blanc said he will now name a "larger than expected" squad after
Younes Kaboul and Florent Malouda also picked up knocks this weekend.
"We'll see with the doctors but we need to know if we can have him on time for the start of the competition," he said.
France face England in their first match at Euro 2012 on June 11.
