Arsenal boss Wenger eyes Man City midfielder De Jong after M'Vila talks stall

Arsene Wenger has switched his attention to Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong after growing frustrated in his pursuit of long-time target Yann M’Vila.
The Arsenal boss wants to bolster his midfield options after injuries to Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta.

He has cooled his interest in M’Vila after talks stalled over a £17m move for the Rennes star.
And now Wenger is reportedly ready to make a move for Manchester City midfielder De Jong.
QPR have also targeted the Dutch enforcer, who made just 11 starts for the Premier League champions last season.
Rangers boss Mark Hughes is keen on a reunion with De Jong, having signed him from Hamburg in 2009 during his spell in charge at City.

Uzbekistan midfielder Odil Ahmedov, who possesses a powerful long-range shot, is also on the radar.

The 6ft-tall player, who has also been used as a centre-half, scored with a spectacular 30-yard drive in the opening game of the Asian Cup against hosts Qatar last year.

Ahmedov was voted Anzhi’s best player of 2011, ahead of Samuel Eto’o and Yury Zhirkov.
