The new Theo? Arsenal eye German starlet as potential replacement for Walcott

Schalke midfielder Holtby (he's German but has an English dad) is in same contract situation as Gunners star - see him in action here

Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby is on Arsenal's radar, amid doubts over the future of Theo Walcott.
England winger Walcott has just a year left on his current contract, meaning the Gunners face losing him for nothing next summer if they do not either get him to agree a new deal or sell now.
Liverpool have been mooted as a possible new home for the 23-year-old if Arsenal do sell.
Ironically, Holtby is in an identical situation to Walcott at his German club.
However, the 21-year-old said on Monday: “I like it at Schalke. I will give my best in training and the manager will decide if I am a first team player.”

Holtby is half-English, on his father's side, and half-German.
He has two full caps for Germany, having previously played for them at Under-19 and Under-21 levels, but missed out on their squad for this summer's Euros in Polkraine.
After making his breakthrough into senior football at Aachen, Holtby moved to Schalke in 2009.
He has since been loaned out to rival German sides, Bochum and Mainz.
