Jackie Chan-pions

MANCHESTER CITY hope some words of advice from Jackie Chan can help give their title rivals the chop next season.

The champions had a meeting with the legendary actor and martial-arts expert as they arrived in Beijing for the second leg of their pre-season tour yesterday.
Chan, 58, was in attendance as City announced a new tie-up with Richard Mille Watches as the clock ticks down to the new season.
And defender Gael Clichy reckons City will relish the challenge of other clubs trying to cut them down to size next season. The Frenchman said: “I think it’s good to have the pressure. It’s always good to be at the top but we have to forget about what we did last year.
“That’s because it’s going to be a new season with new players and new teams and we will have to fight until the end like we did last season. But we can do it!”
City will also hope to improve on last season’s effort in the Champions League, when they failed to make it past the group stages.
Clichy added: “The Champions League will come later on and that will be a big objective for us because last year was a tough group but we felt that we could have done a bit better.
“The main objective is the Premier League because that’s what the fans want, but of course the Champions League would be a massive one.
“We just want to win as many trophies as we can. Hopefully we can push on from where we left off last season.”
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummennigge has dismissed reports the club want to sign City midfielder Nigel de Jong.
